All applicants must apply and be accepted to both the University and the School of Music. Please see the School of Music website for audition and application information: http://music.gsu.edu

You may wish to contact the University Welcome Center to schedule a tour of the Georgia State campus while you are on campus for your audition.
Graduate Audition Requirements

Applicants should prepare an audition program of approximately 30 minutes. A video may be submitted if a distance of over 300 miles is involved; however, it is to the applicant’s advantage to appear in person. All graduate auditions include a lesson with Dr. Dahl. Applicants should prepare an audition program including:

First movement from the Mozart Oboe Concerto, K. 314

Two contrasting movements from a Baroque work
-
A work from the 20 or 21st century
-
A slow and fast Ferling etude
-
Two contrasting orchestral excerpts

Undergraduate Audition Requirements
-
One or two major scales, chosen from all 12, and a chromatic scale throughout the entire range of the instrument. Scales will be chosen by the committee.

Sight-reading
-
Two selections of contrasting style totaling roughly eight minutes. The following repertoire should be considered "representative" of the level of entrance for each instrument. These are NOT the only pieces that can be performed.
